I have noticed my axolotl becoming ill. He is eating minimal amounts of food (still eating though), extremely lethargic (you can touch him and he wont budge, just float), and now has a fungus on his gills. (white fuzzy patch covering sections of his gills)
I believe this is because my tank cycle crashed about 1 week ago when my filter broke and spit out almost all his tank water out the filter and onto the floor while I wasn't home. (there was about 20/30% of his water left in tank when I got home)
He's in a 10g tank right now because I can't manage to keep a 20G cold. I'm most likely going to buy a chiller in a few days once I decide how to go about treatment because the temp fluctuations in his tank could also very easily be stressing him.
How should I treat him?
Are saltwater baths painful for the axolotl? how long should he be left in there? Should I just put him back in his tank after or where does he go??
I really care about this guy and this past week has been so stressful because of the crashed tank. Please help!
