Most people on here use children's playsand. I use sandblasting sand. Any kind works as long as the grain size is small enough and it doesn't contain metals etc. Some types you might need to wash more than others though.
I just use play sand and it works good. But make sure it isn't too fine! If you buy sand that is super fine it is a pain to rinse! I made that mistake my first time buying sand. I literally rinsed it for an hour, and it didn't do hardly anything. I believe it was labeled "All purpose sand".
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
