Self Injury?

I have two juvenile axolotls and one of them has recently hurt himself. Erebus was swimming and slammed into a piece of drift wood I have in the tank and hurt his lip(small chunk out of it) should I remove the wood or let him have his child like accidents until he learns to be careful?

I'd leave it - he won't learn to steer proerly if he has no deterrant!

Axies heal incredibly well, he'll recover in no time.
