I was gifted an axolotl egg by a friend a few months back, it hatched in mid-July and has been growing well in a small setup since. I can't find information online for suggested parameters, tank size, etc for extremely young axolotls, and while I think it's about time to move my axie to a new setup I fear it won't be able to find food in a large tank. I have a 20 Gallon tank ready, but that's far bigger than it needs as this age, I think. What size is appropriate for such a young axie?
The axolotl is somewhere between six weeks and two months old and it's about an inch long. It has grown its front legs and I think it may be a copper axolotl, though I'm unsure about it's genetics. Its current setup is a half gallon tub with live plants. While suitable at first, I expect it may be time for an upgrade? Any suggestions, advice, etc welcome. (I need all the info I can get!)
Thanks!
