I'm taking my summer vacation in early September (catch those off-peak rates). My goal is the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn and the Michigan Renaissance Faire, but on the way and way back I'm planning to hit these zoos:
Binghamton zoo, Pittsburgh Zoo, Cleveland Zoo, Toledo Zoo, Detroit Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo, Columbus Zoo.
If anyone has been to these zoos recently (or works there) can you please give me the scoop on the herps (and otters)? Also, does anyone know if the herps at the Cincinnati zoo are out of the back rooms yet?

thanks!

I'm sorry that I don't know much about the Pittsburgh Zoo, but I thought that it would be worth mentioning that the Philadelphia zoo has a pretty good sized group of Amazon Giant Otters (In case you are interested ).

Too bad I won't be in town in early September! We could totally get together and go to the zoo.

Have fun at the Renn Faire! If you see a redhead selling Scottish TeaBag Society T-shirts, that's Dirk. Tell him Kaysie says Hi, and he should call me more often.

Thanks, Nathan. I have seen them, they are awesome! Also I saw Naked Mole-Rats there when they were the only zoo in the country to have them (as I remember). I've been to most of the zoos "in my area".

Kaysie: I certainly will!!

I just learned there is a Reptile expo in Taylor MI (outside of Detroit) that I think I can squeeze in also. Anyone been to that one?

I'm the salamander geek at the Toledo Zoo. When were you planning on being here?

I'm planning to do the Toledo Zoo on either Wed/Thurs Sept 10 or 11 (I'm giving my self some driving leeway), hopefully the 10th.

The Taylor show isn't too bad. Worth it, if you're just passing through.
