I have had my Axies for about 6 months, they are now 16-18 months old, and I still cant tell if they're males or females, or one of each. One is albino with the GPF mutation gene, and the other is brown wildtype with the GPF mutation gene. Here are some pictures:

The green one's name is Ivy and the wildtype's name is Vata. also they're just in the containers because I'm doing a 100% water change in their tank, thanks for any input!

Sorry, i did the links wrong, these work, still new at this.

can someone please respond, I need to know if I should get a male or female, or no more new ones, I'd like to breed them, Thanks!

ok, i will post some side pics soon

I cant see the photos(my work has the storage blocked) but boys normally have a large bump under their tail and the girls only have a smallish bump, they are also a bit rounded compared to the boys........

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
