Sexing T. kweichowensis

Is it as difficult as in t. verrucosus? Do you have to open the cloaca the same way?

In my personal experience the sexing of kweichowensis is easier than with verrucosus. It's often more obvious from body proportions than in verrucosus. But still to be sure you should check the cloaca, most of the time it's very clear if it's male or female.

I think Tim once posted photos on caudata which showed very clearly the sexual dimorphism in cloaca shape.

I only found Paris's pictures of her dead ones. Were you refering to those?

well i can attest that the orange arm spot technique doesnt work. (it still holds true for taliangensis though) i just got 4, they were supposed to be 1.3 and going by the arm pads thats what they would be, but i actually got 3.1. the female had no orange pad and the one male did-but the 2 other males didnt have the pads. the vents were a dead give away though, the males had long slits and the females have a small round opening.

my new female just laid eggs, found 2 -one sticking to the side of another newt! bummer is they are definitely infertile. im thinking of feeding them blood worms exclusively for a while so as to get them very aquatic and perhaps in the mood before she runs out of eggs.
