Shanjing update

Hehe. Well, define nerd.

Oh well, my comment wasn't about removing lamps altogether...it was about removing the repti-glo lamp and replacing it with something more suitable for plants and amphibians.
I assume that repti-glo are made to suit reptilians and might be UV-lamps(bad for most living things)....in any case the wavelengths and intensity is most probably far from what a plant would want.

nerd: person that checks caudata.org daily..or bi-daily. So that would be me!

I checked the repti-glo suggested uses list and the one I picked was down for dart frogs..which I figured was close to caudata. But maybe not a good choice.

Plants seem to be doing ok in the tank but I'll look at some other lamps. I don't want to have the wrong light in there!

Thanks.

Gord

That's odd, my mistake. If it's good for dartfrogs it should probably be alright for sals as you say... I generally go for what's good for the plants and try to keep the brightness down for the sals. For the moment I don't even have lamps, but that's just because I just moved overseas and haven't had time to go get some.
