Hey all

I'm about to acquire some T. shanjing, is it best to give them panacur against any possible worms? They are from the shipment that came via France. Any other suggestions to what's important in the first few weeks?

Hi Mark,
I would make sure they were established and had good fat reserves before I began messing with them.
Most of the time they are severely lacking in fat reserves and the stress of an immediate dose of a wormer may be too much for them.

Thanks for the advise Edward
I heard that John Clare advises to give wc Tylotritons something against bacterias. Is this always necessary, and what should I use? Flagyl?

Mark

It depends.
When we recieved a number of beat up animals at work we only treated the ones with obvious lesions and had good survivial rates.
Maybe John will review the information.

Hmm
That question is given around,....
You have at least von good vet not far from your country,..
I personally don´t agree with looking for medical help in online boards,....
Greets,
Philipp

Yes I know Philipp, but I thougt it was best if I asked for as many opinions as I could. Can I ask wich vet you mean here in the Netherlands?

Greets Mark

And another question for you Philipp: would you medicate them or not?
I think I'm going to keep them separated for the first 3 weeks, in quarantine tanks. So that I can see if they are eating or anything else is wrong. Do you have any helpfull suggestions Philipp?

Greets

Three weeks?Think of some months,......
Well, i do think of a belgian vet, who could definitely have a look on what´s coming out of your animals,...
I don´t medicate without knowing what parasites are there to find,.....
Have a vet to check before:D
You can´t see if they´re eating?
How do you feed?
Greets,
Philipp

If there are no deaths I typically quarantine for a minimum of 60 days.
