I've read the occassional post on here about skin shedding. I keep paddletails, and i was wondering if they shed their skins as a matter of course, and if so, is there a pattern to this? No sign of this happening with mine, it's just a matter of curiosity.

I would like to know also. Do mudpuppies shed their skins? I'm pretty sure they do, but how often? I'm with you Peter, I see know sign either.

All salamanders shed their skin. Most will finish shedding and eat their shed within a matter of a few minutes. It's rare to find a shed skin, as it's often a tasty snack (either to the shedder, or a tank-mate).

Wow I didn't know they ate their shed skin. When we first put our Salamander in water he shed but since putting him in his tank we have not seen him shed but that may explain why.

My granulosas compete for earthworms but they absolutely fight each other for shedding skin. Often they grab the shedder and just shake him out of his skin. It is comical to watch.

MRI, mine do the same thing. Evidently T.grans sheds are a delicacy.
