I was reading the other shipping thread and it said that larvae are a tough stage to ship in. What is the best stage? Someone here wanted to have some of mine, but after the horrible "Uncle Miltie's" Frog Pond experience, I couldn't stand the thought of shipping the little ones. Is it safer to send eggs?

I've heard several things, but I believe that eggs are probably one of the most safe stages to ship- mind you, if done correctly. I know Caudata Culture has an entire page devoted to the methods used for shipping Caudates, eggs included. Additionally, shipping terrestrial juveniles/adults tends to go over well too.

I'd think that shipping larvae would be like shipping an axolotl, which is done quite often. I'm not sure of the process though.

I loathe shipping juvies. They're more fragile. If you can, ship eggs. It's cheaper, and safer. But if you must ship juvies, I usually wait until they have their back legs. They seem a little tougher by then.

If I had to rank them in the order I would do them in, it would look like this; Eggs, adults, juveniles, and then larvae (easiest to the most difficult).

Shipping larvae is definitely a pain in the butt, I think it also depends on the species though. Some species I will ship the larvae of but then there are others that I wouldn't even think about shipping.
