Hi.

My one year old Albino has not eaten in 2 weeks. There is no outward sign of illness.

She has been in a seperate tank for a week now and is still refusing food and the water in the main tank has been changed (The other axxi was fine though, as were the levels)

I have tried other foods with her, including wax worms which I bought today but she is still refuing food. She looks as though she has slimmed down a bit so I am getting worried.

I have ordered some Myxazin to put in the seperate tank with her and see if it helps, just in case she has some kind of infection, other than that I am not too sure, as they have never been ill before.

Any help would be grand. Daniel

What's the temperature in your tank?

The main tank is 14' at the moment.
The small tank she is in has fridge temp water in, though by the time I change it is the same temp as the main tank.

When they get cold, they don't eat as much.

You could try keeping her in a slightly warmer part of the house and see if that spurs her appetite.

mine seems to be doing the same , she is the same age & she hasnt voluntarily eaten , ive been force feeding her this past week because she is real slim & her gills have been reducing , i dont think she is morphing because her eyes havent bulged out or her tail hasnt rounded out , her other 2 tank mates which are both year old males are fine eating & healthy & i dont think its the water , they always readily eat , she just hasnt & wanted to eat anything , what can i do?

Just thought i'd let everyone know, Fiona is eating again! After 2 weeks of no food and me panic buying medicine, water syringe and pelets for forced feeding, it turns out she was not ill but just wanted to eat earthworms. Thanks for the help guys.

And, she ate for 2 days and stopped again.

I am not sure what is causing this by I have put her in a seperate container with Myxazin (half dosage) today. Will keep her in for 48 hours and see if she eats then.

From her eating before (and pooing) I am presuming it is not Impaction, so hopefully the bacteracide will do something useful.

I don't think they need to eat every day... and if temperatures are low then less food is consumed.

I'm never a fan of medications unless absolutely necessary - I know it's hard not to fiddle with our axie babies every day - but try leaving her to just rest in the dark for a few days / week without too much interference & see if that helps before adding chemical medications to the menu :)
