Sick axolotl.short gills.

I think you're doing everything right so far. Keep the water clean and make sure it's eating :)
 
its eating alright..it even bite the siphon when im siphoning the tank..

Edit:1 of my axolotl is floating and swimming since this morning..is this normal?it poop and eating but floating on top of the tank..
 
Axolotls do like to "hang around" at the surface of the water, I don't think there's anything wrong. After some time in good quality water his gills should elongate once again. I think he'll be fine.
 
I have two axolotls from aquatic shop with bad water quality and they both had very little gills, just as yours.Now it's been a few months and gills are much much bigger, one of axies even grows an extra gill lol.I think it's just good quality water and diet that helps them recover x x x :D

Guess it's about 30 days to make sure it's not sick and won't pass the sickness to your other axie.
I am not an expert but your axolotl doesn't look sick to me, just looks like it's been kept in bad conditions and needs to recover.Good water and good food :)
They don't feed them as they should in aquatic shops :violent:
 
yea..its not sick..now its eating frozen bloodworm with good appetite..

edit:the new axolotl is 6 inch but my other axolotl is 5 inch..can i still keep them together?
 
My axolotls were a bit different sizes and I had no problems with them, but I do have an extra tank if something would happen
