Sick cyril please help

help my salamander is not his self he is on his side all the time never on his belly,he eatin tho and i cant see any fungus on him.he's not as active as he normally is.we are really worried about cyril he been like this for well over 2 weeks now.we feed him prawns as thats what the pet shop told us to feed him.please help us xxx
 
Have you tried feeding him earthworms? I assume salamanders eat similar to axies. And have you also tried posting your question in the Newt and Salamander help part of the forum www.caudata.org/forum/messages/7/7.html?1141670984 you might find you will get help faster.
 
sorry cyril is a axolotls i thought that salamander was another name for them till i saw they were alot smaller, cyril has really slowed down he was really active befor,do u think he bloated? is that a sign? i been readin through some other problems what are people goin on about the fridge???????? please help xxx
 
he may just need a poo mine floats a bit just before he does, make sure water isnt to warm, put him in cool place with no stress and give him few days see if he constipated.
 
You mention in the other post that you have him on gravel. He has probably ingested some gravel and it's lodged in his gut.

You can try putting him in a food safe container with enough tank water to cover him and putting him in the fridge for a few days (with daily water changes), and see if he poos out whatever's inside.
