Hello all,
About a week ago I noticed that David had some veins on his body and face that were more noticeable than before. His gills also have grown quite a bit and have been looking ready. I’m not sure if the veins are normal or if I should take him to the vet. He has been eating fine and going to the bathroom fine and his water quality has been good. The only change to his tank was about two weeks ago his tank had gotten down to 48 degrees Fahrenheit. It has now warmed up to about 62 degrees Fahrenheit. I also want to mention that I am a hypochondriac whenever it comes to him and have been shining a light on him non stop.
Thanks.

Hi Catie,
Sometimes red veins mean that they are being active. My little albino gets them when he is eating or having a stroll around the tank. Would you say that your axie has been more active recently? The fact that he is eating and pooping normally as well as good tank quality suggests all is fine with your axie.
I freak out very easily with my axolotls too... It's never harmful to ask though!
If you notice any changes then feel free to ask,

Hope all goes well,
Chloe
