What are the tell tale signs ( symptoms) that show an Axolotl is sick, unhappy or stressed with it's environment, diet or temperature of the water ect ect ??? thanks for your time

Hi there,

If you do a search through the Forum, you will find all sorts of responses to your question...I will try to give you some ideas to keep your axie happy and healthy - Keep his waterflow down to a minimum, axies don't like current; give him some space (the bigger the tank the better); keep him nice and cool (16-19 C); don't use gravel or any rocks smaller than his head; give him hides so he can get away from the light; keep his water balanced/clean/dechlorinated; feed him juicy earthworms

Now to help with your requests:

Sick - white cotton looking growth usually on the gills=fungus; extended time without eating; swimming awkwardly or floating with the inability/difficulty to return to the bottom; Gills look a little raggedy; and yes, there are others.

Unhappy - he is reclusive, refusing food, just not his usual goofy axolotl self - you will learn his behaviors with time....and he eats a lot of ice cream and/or chocolate ;) jk :p

Stressed - his gills will be folded forward and the end of his tail will be kinked (the very tip will be folded looking)

Thank you , so does this mean if he was ill or unhappy i would know about it, as in it would just go unnoticed??
