I am at dead end right now since my siren lost her tip of her tail suddenly (with no other sign of illness) I looked everywhere for remedies to help her heal I suspected that she stuck her tail in one of the stone when I siphoned the tank and maybe I did or she freak out and pull out the tail and it did came out like clean cut. The tail that fallen off still moving for the whole day. I was FREAKING out more than she did.

I have 7 axolotls in different tanks and there are tons of info of how to heal them but nothing at all about siren. Cause with axolotl the cold water help I just wonder how similar it is between the two different species beside the axolotl greater regeneration ability. So far I am worry about the black worms (her favorite food) is trying to get inside her wound while she try to eat them.

If the wound isn't infected, I would assume that it will heal on its own. I suppose tea baths could help, but I'm not an expert. If it DOES appear infected, post pictures. I wouldn't worry about blackworms- just try to remove the ones that are uneaten. Keep us updated about her.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
