Size comparison: Triturus, Mesotriton, Lissotriton

I keep my pair of T. marmoratus in a tank just next to my L. boscai. I am always struck by the HUGE difference in size between these species, which were once classified in the same genus.

The animals in these photos are all males, and all of them are full-grown young adults (2-3 years old) in breeding condition. They are:
Triturus marmoratus (~12.5 cm)
Mesotriton alpestris apuanus (~8.5 cm)
Lissotriton boscai (~6.5 cm)

Nice comparison! I really like your marm´s colours...would love to see more pics of him if possible.
That´s one small boscai´s adult, isn´t it??? It amazes me how the females can be a lot bigger than the tinny males.
 
Wow. I thought these newts were relatively the same size. Cool pics Jen!

Interesting pics. I had no idea apuanuas were that small. Its one thing reading the measurements but when seeing them lined up like that the difference is huge.
