Sketch-o-lotl

So, I just KNOW some of you guys are going to have doodles, sketches, and artwork hanging around of axolotls, so I thought I would share some from this end!

Some friends and their three kids (4, 6 and 8) visited last weekend, and just fell deeply in love with the axolotls - even if they didn't rate the worms much!

Anyway, inspired by my doodle on the board to remind Scott what must be done while I am working away:

...they discovered the whiteboard and pens, and contributed some absolutely adorable pictures:

Now, to say they are all under 10 years old, theres not much between their pictures, and those done by a colleague down at HQ after I'd shown him some axie pics:

Here's a few for you
The first one was done by Madeleine when she was about 5. The pumpkin was done after the children asked for an axolotl pumpkin, the last was done by Maddy for a school project...she was disqualified as they didn't believe axolotl where real ....Soon showed them they where.

I cannot believe they disqualified Maddy! I am indignant on her behalf!

I love sketching axolotls!!!! And using them in my work!

the first one is the abominable snow-axolotl - fun sketch when I got bored with homework

then the aztec axolotl I designed for a project I am working on in grad school....

and then the painting I started staring Kahlua, Luna, and one of Shannon's Andersoni- need to finish thissssssssss!!

Wow! Some real talent we have lurking on these forums! Morrison I love the "mine!" picture so much! lol! I haven't an artistic bone in my body. So this my friends, this is my masterpeice:

(They have paws because I can't draw hands and no I don't know what happened to Hoshi's body either!)

I have a Red-Backed Salamander too (image quality is extremely low- there is text on there you can't really see- kind of like a fine art field guide)

I love this thread so much! I wish I could draw, but once I drew a vacutainer to explain different parts inside it, the two people I was studying with could not contain their laughter and thought it was something very inappropriate. I tend to not even try now

Everyone's work is so stunning. I kind of want a tattoo of an axolotl with some nice Japanese style waves... I wonder if anyone here has any axie inspired ink?

So I finally got round to some sketching today, only about 15mins spent on each one, a bit less on the axie one cause I couldn't find a good picture and it's rubbish

All I had was 1 pencil, with no sharpner or rubber, and 1 rollerball pen

First pic shows midway through... then individual pictures. (As you can see I'm using my laptop as a desk!)

Started off being realistic then got bored and went a bit abstract..
