Skinny baby

If there's fungus you could try giving her a bath in untreated water. The chlorine in the water can get rid of the fungus if it's not bad yet. It's more gentle than salt baths so may be worth a try.

Fungis seems to be under controll...she is mostly eating blood worms and refusing live worms and pellets.

Im going to start soaking chopped worms in the blood worms. ..she is slowly..sooo slowly seeming to get better.
I scoop her out of the tank in to a smaller tank while cleaning and feed her in that, yesterday she had a healthy poop and she had not passed any more gravel. She is allot of work!

I will get pics tonight!

Here is a pic today

Here are some better pics today....can anyone notice any improvement?

The fungis does not seem to be spreading but it looks as if she is losing a front toe. And her back legs are always set like that..but she can move them is this normal?

She still is eating at least once a day..I put pellets blood worms and drop them on her head with a turky baster over and over toll she stops snaping at it and eating.

I need some encouragement. .progress os going so slow!

...she has not eaten in two days:(

I dont know what to do anymore.

:( She is not looking great. I am hesitant to recommend salt baths or other more strong treatments for the fungus while she is still weak and undernourished. I feel it may just be too much for her but if the fungus starts spreading you may need to consider salt baths (maybe a very weak salt bath?). But maybe you could put some indian almond leaves in the water? These would be a bit more gentle than a salt bath. Although you would need to watch the PH carefully as the leaves can significantly lower the PH. Maybe give baths in a separate tub rather than placing the leaves in the aquarium?

Besides the fungus, all you can do is keep her in good water conditions and keep offering foods. Maybe she would take a scallop? It will take some time for significant improvement. She does look better than the initial photos but I would have hoped for more improvement by now. Being so nutritionally deprived, it may be that some permanent internal damage to organs is present and there may be little you can do. Hopefully this is not the case and she shows more significant signs of improvement soon. If she does deteriorate though, you may need to consider euthanasia. It may the kindest thing to do is she does go down hill.

Hang in there though and maybe try the indian almond leaves and scallops to tempt her taste buds and see how she goes. Whatever happens, you have done an amazing thing taking her on and you are giving her the best chance she has at pulling through this.

The fungus is under controll, it seems to only be on one toe at the moment.

..she swims around as if agitated when I try to feed her....I feel so lost, her mouth is still always gaping.

You might be right, I am thinking there is some extensive damage that I cannit see.

If she does not start to eat at what stage should I consider puting her down?...I have clove oil for puting fish down...would that work for this?

I felt like giving up so for a few days of just theowing food in and water changes with out much observation or trating the fungis I tried to feed her.

She ate two chunks of worms, two pellets and a good portion of blood worms with it all, she is reacting to me again looking up when she wants more food. I have decided to stop the treatment of the fungus..it seems to be the trigger to ger going off of her food. Ill keep a close eye on it for now.

I did notice one of her eyes are cloudy now...any ideas what that could be? Its not fuzzy and does not look like fungus...that only seems to be on her toes.

Anyway..here she is today.

Good job! I've been lurking on this thread and just wanted to say keep up the good work sometimes percerverence is all it takes . Hope her health continues to improve good luck.

P.s. Sorry I'm not of help with the eye question hopefully some one more experienced will chime in. I think I've read old posts relating to eye problems try searching forum topics

Great work! She is looking much improved. :)

I'm not sure about the cloudy eye. It could be cataract and possibly something to do with being nutritionally deprived or could be something else. Maybe a more experienced member here might have a better idea? I would just monitor for now and see if it gets worse or better.

But she is looking so much better!

Tomorrow will be one month With me!

She took part of a worm today!

She is looking great and has really taken a turn for the better. You are doing a fantastic job. The more she improves the faster she will recover too so I expect you will see much more progress very soon :)

Do my eyes deceive me or is this starting to look like a healthy little axolotl?
