with no salamander food! i left my bloodworms in the fridge at college (a nice present for me after break). i can't really make it to the pet store but i could walk to the grocery store tomorrow - in the meanwhile my poor newts are staring at me balefully and i know they're pretty hungry, it's been almost a week since they've been fed now. i've got some raw chicken breast and frozen steak - if i cut it in little strips is that alright to feed them? or would it be too.. i don't know, i'm worried they'll choke or something. they're all around 4 inches.

AWWWW!!! I would say you could mince the meat finely and feed from a rounded and/or flattened toothpick for a few days? We all know its not optimal but this is a fairly urgent situation situation - so I say yes, its ok to feed this to them as a last resort.

I would probably go with the chicken over the steak.

Is there a gas station near by? I know most gas stations around here carry earthworms.

We got 12 inches of snow last night. Yay winter!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
