Great pics of some lovely animals. I look forward to seeing the rest of them. Any luck breedingt eh Paramesotriton?

Neat looking A. caudopuntactus, even it seems a bit underweight, still good looking. May I ask how many you've got or were did you got them from?!
Cheers,

Hey, neat pictures.

Could you tell me the name of the plant the C. orientalis on the third picture is sitting on ? Would be very great, I am looking for something like this for my aquarium.

Greetings, Jakob

The caudopunctatus comes from Hamm (04/06/2011), I paid it 20€.
It was WC and very shy, that's why it is underweight :/

About the Parameso's breeding, I can't try it currently : the male caudopunctatus is alone, and the female chinensis too.
A friend has just recovered a poor dominated male chinensis and gave it me, but before breeding I try to keep it alive...

The plant is a Schefflera. But it's not an aquatic plant. Here I have 2-3cm of water, only the tip of the stem is in the water.

I post the last pictures tonight ! ^^

PS : Do you use "it" or "he/she" for talk about newts ? I don't speak english often, so I don't know... XD

Great looking newts! I am always delighted in seeing other cyanurus, the variations in color are asounding. I love the egg in the picture as well, it looks like the male is doing his job. ;)

Look forward to seeing more pics!

Thanks for sharing!

Mitch

I see. Why haven't you invested in a couple or trio of both sexes Fred ( A. caudopuntactus ) ?

Btw Fred, I noticed gravel in some of your tanks that a newt could swallow, be careful,
You may want to switch to sand.

Thanks for them !

About the caudo :

I had booked a pair, but the man brought me two males ! It's probably the easier species to sexed... I don't understand why he made this mistake -_-'

So I took the one of both, i didn't want fights. (Now i regret i haven't took both newts, and give the second to a friend. But it's done...).

I have friends who'll go to shows this autumn, I hope they'll find a female caudo.

François, I'm agree, gravels are more riskier than sand, and i have sand in a great part of tanks.

The last tanks with gravels are a C. orientalis's tank, a C. cyanurus's tank, and the T. verrucosus's tank (gravels and sand mixed), and the newts are hand-fed (I have never fed with icy bloodworms).

So, low danger ^^

It's all for my Caudates ^^
I have some larvae/juveniles of other species, but I haven't pictures of them.

Fred, those are really awesome!
Thank you for giving me the plant's name, just got one - its really big (even the "small" version). The more interested I am now for your tanks - could you show us some picture of their homes, that would be great!

Really impressing, thanks for sharing :)

All of them are so cool, I like the white and black one the most

np ^^
In my tank it's not a real plant, it's a slip (is it the good word ? bouture in French).

I'll post tanks pictures later, in the vivaria section ;)

I was already wondering because I didnt find any information about this ;)
I think you cut off some of the plant and put it into the tank, right ? :p

Yes ^^
This part of the plant makes new roots and grows.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
