something wrong with my Axolotl, please help.

Hypno is 7-8 months old. I got him new tank, new decorations, new neighbor/friend about 4 month old axolotl, and feeder fish guppies , and ghost shrimps. all of it kinda at the same time. First I got bigger tank 40 gallons, then I got new axolotl, later I got new decorations , feeder fish and shrimps. Now his genitals got swollen , his gills got very dark like red color, his tail got darker, he doest act right, he is hangin mostly upside-down vertically. He is spinning in the circles trying to get to his under tail area looks like dog chasing his tail. I'm not sure what is wrong with him and how to help him. I also found undigested fish in the tank, I took all the fish and ghost shrimps out now, his genitals still swollen. The new Axolotl seem fine. What should I do?

When an animal tend to show odd behaviors or has indication of them being sick I always test the water and it’s parameters and the temperature of the water. If you have high ammonia levels I would change the water with de chlorinated water. I haven’t worked with axolotls but I know water temperatures and temperatures in general need to be on the cooler sides for newts and salamanders. As far as the feeder fish I would stay away from them. Feeder fish are riddled with parasites . When I was younger I had a pet snapping turtle get tape worms from feeder guppies. I treated the water with antibiotics and from then on never fed feeder fish again. I would start looking up common illnesses for axolotls . I would also quarantine the sick one. If the condition stays the same or worsens you can maybe find a vet who specializes in amphibians and reptiles or you can to try your hand at antibiotics from the pet shop. As far as how much as a dosage or what kind will depend on what is the most likely the illness and research. As a hobbyist we sometimes have to play detective and doctor.

Several years ago, there was a person who posted a video of their axolotl doing exactly what Hypno is said to be doing. It turns out it had a neurologically degenerative disease. I hope it's not the same with Hypno as he looks cute and there wouldn't be anything OP could do...also, if it is so, Hypno might already be dead given how old this thread is.
