Hi there I don't know if my last post worked but I urgently need help!

My Spanish ribbed newt, Godzilla, can't seem to eat anymore. He tries but it looks like he can't open his mouth and he's gasping?

After his appetite decreased I checked the water parameters which were 0 Ammonia, 0 nitrite and 60ppm nitrATE. I've been doing water changes every two days. It's now at 30ppm however I'm starting to think he has NitrATE poisoning?

If so, how long until (hopefully) he can get back to normal and eat again? He hasn't got anything in his throat, as I looked when he was yawning. What do I do now? Should I put him on damp paper towels so he can breathe easier and hopefully eat?

Many thanks to anyone who can help me!

Unfortunately i cannot do that as i don't have a suitable camera, and pictures would also not help, as he looks fine.

Apologies.

I don't think his ability to breath is a problem, but keep on trying to feed him everyday. Try small food items like live tubifex or bloodworms. If even these pose a problem, then I would suggest you go consult a vet.
