Question: Sponge Filters

How many is enough? I have a 40 gal breeder tank that I got at petco, and I was wondering if I should use one sponge filter listed for a 40 gallon tank, or should I use 2 smaller ones, or 2 listed for the 40 gallon tank. I know axolotls can be quite messy, which is why I posed the question.

I found my one enough however it depends on how many axolotls you have, I have a 3ft that I run with just one sponge. Taking into account how often you're siphoning out the gunk

I have three 60 gallon sponge filters running in my 55 gallon it seems to keep them happy.

I have one sponge filter rated for a 50 gallon tank in all 4 of my 40 breeders.

Thanks guys. i'll probably pick up 2 just to be on the safe side. They're pretty cheap, so it won't be a problem.
