We got our spotted salamander 2 weeks ago, and so far, he has eaten a little, but not much. Some questions I had were:

How often should I feed him?

How much? (He's about three inches long without the tail.)

What food would he eat a lot of?

Do you have any good ways of feeding?

Thanks so much, we are complete beginners and need a little advice.;)

I keep mine in a soil based set up. The soil is mixed with dried leaves , there are also stacks of broken terracotta pot/ slate and wood bark. The soil is sprayed from time to time so it does not completely dry out. I feed earthworms and woodlice.
My animals are not always keen to be visible, so most of the time I just drop a few worms into the area that they are lurking. If they are out, they will occasional hand feed. If your animal was recently wild caught, it may still be stressed. Try not to disturb it too much and keep offering the live food.
