Hey all, first time owner here. I received a spotted salamander earlier this week, she’s around 4 years old and still very small.

It’s been a little over 4 days, and she hasn’t eaten yet. I’ve been trying to feed her earthworms (nightcrawlers) cut up small enough for her to be able to eat, but she has not taken any as of yet.

To be fair, I’m not sure when she was last fed before being shipped to me, so she could just not be hungry quite yet. I’ve also heard some types of salamanders eat less when it’s hot out, which it has been where I live.

She also hasn’t been burrowing down into the substrate, which I read they almost always tend to do. She’s just been chilling in a hide beneath a fake cave I have in there.
Just wanted to see if anyone had any advice / tips for this situation, or to know if this all normal and I’m making a big deal out of nothing.

EDIT: The temp and humidity are at the optimal levels inside the terrarium.
