This is the highlights of my year so far, It has been a productive spring and summer and I am looking forward to what I will be finding in the fall. Here it is...
A nice northern dusky salamander to start the year off right...
The largest northern slimy salamander I've ever found. I found two around this size in the same day.
Ravine salamanders such as this one are abundant in the spring but are very hard to come by during the warmer months.
A good sized adult midland mud salamander found under leaf litter in a muddy spring.
Different angle, same salamander.
Longtail salamander found under a log near a spring fed sandy bottom stream.
The highlight of my year so far, my first ever green salamander. (aneides aeneus). It was a juvenile found under moss on some small sandstone outcrops.
A few days later, four more juvenile green salamanders were found not far from where I found the first one.
Green salamander habitat.
A young red salamander found under sphagnum moss in a stream.
My first four toed salamander, found under a log not far from the red.
A very unique desmognathus specimen. I believe it was a blackbellied salamander with a strong pattern.
Seal salamander top, shovelnose salamander bottom.
Carolina mountain dusky salamander posed on white board.
A two lined salamander integrade posed on white board.
A nice blackbellied salamander.
Northern dusky salamander guarding eggs
A big adult green salamander for those of you who get tired of seeing desmognathus..
Green salamander climbing tree.
Red salamander eggs. strangely enough they were not being guarded by the mother.
The largest red salamander I've ever found.
The largest spring salamander I've ever found.
The largest spring salamander I've ever found in situ.
Red salamander larvae found in a spring.

Mud salamander habitat.
Blue ridge spring salamander.
Spring salamander habitat.
Shovelnose salamander as found in rock crevice.
Green salamander as found in rock crevice.
Mud salamander as found in burrow.
Blackbellied salamanders developing in eggs.
Mountain dusky salamander using prehensile tail, this is the first time I have seen this in any species of desmognathus.
