hi my friend works for the council and he came across a few newts at a land site he was working at, hes said he'll get me them as the pond there in is been filled in (one of the most common reasons in the declin of wild newts) i have a plastic tank ( 12 x 8 x 8 inches ) with a vent lid and thats a temp home for them until i can find another place to set them free, can i use bottled spring water instead of testing tap water or if u use spring water do u still have to test it? thanks for the info, regards
benjo

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
