Strange axolotl behavior??? help pls!

So when i went home i separated my axolotl to a small tank and gave him food to avoid mess it was tubifex worms and it keeps eating in the tank and i cleaned all the main tank 100% water change,when i returned him in his tank it was doing some sort of crazy stuff it was raising its tail here's a pic:

and also in the pic notice its back legs float and raising its tail and it keeps gulping for area and it was thrashing in the water going crazy swimming around and it keeps chasing its tail! what's wrong with him
no ammonia and nitrite , i also added the water conditioner.
So guys tell me will my axolotl be ok?? the other axolotl doesnt do that only one of them , is it just pooping or no?
will my axolotl be ok ? every advice will be followed
 
I dont know why he is doing that but a 100% waterchaneg on you main tank may crash the cycle.
 
If his back end is still floating, I would decrease the amount of water in the tank so that he is not struggling to get to the bottom.

i did place lower water and it seems like he keeps sticking to a cave to avoid floating i will update u guys tomorrow night :)
 
Did you try lowering the water level? My understanding is that it really stresses them out when they can't reach the bottom (with all four). That could explain the darting around. Maybe he's just constipated.....one of my little ones did this and was fine after I lowered the water and let him/her stay like that overnight.

But the floating back end is new since the water change?
 
Sorry! Didn't see your post about already lowering the water. I would lower it enough so that he doesn't have to stay by the cave to touch the bottom. :)
 
One other thought---do you let your conditioned water stand for 24-48 hours before putting it in the tank? I didn't know to do this initially, but I learned to do it on here. If not, the water may not be totally treated.

nope , and also i would start conditioning first , and also it was pooping fine and the weird stuff the axolotl is doing started when i cleaned its tank what wrong?
 
When you cleaned the tank, did you scrub the glass? Don't do that; that's where your beneficial bacteria live.
 
At a ammonia reading of 1 with a 100%water change you are crashing your tank and this is very bad for your axie. Did you ever have an established tank? If your ammonia reading is high you should at most do 50% water changes if not 20-40% daily till the ammonia is lower. If you worry about your axies health in the meantime i would suggest keeping him in a temporary tub doing 100% waterchanges in the tubs.

What are you using to test your water?
Its possible your axie is just stressed because there is air in his belly and its making him float. Keeping the water level down will help but i would probably keep him in a tub of water temporarly with low water for it will be better. You need to cycle your tank. It may be possible that he is thrashing because of the ammonia but i would be leaning more to the floating stressing him out.

He isnt really literally floating on top it just stand on its head and snap live worms . Some kinda strange is that ok or no?
 
Some people have noticed their axolotls back end floats when they need to poop. If the ammonia is high keep up with regular water changes :happy:
