Hi there, I can't seem to find any info on this online, one of my axolotls has a strange white patch on his side. He's always had it, and it looks like it's part of his markings. I've had him since he was a tadpole, he'll be around ten months old n I'm just wondering if that's normal? He's a wildtype. There's a picture in my gallery.

Thanks

I'm a noob, just figured out how to upload a photo on here.... it's the strange marking on the wildtype. Thanks

Has it gotten any bigger? It looks like its a marking to me. Bit odd on a wild-type, but he looks happy and healthy.

Nice looking wild-types you have there. Cute! :D

Hi thanks for the quick reply :) No it hasn't gotten any bigger, unless you're counting as he's grown because he's always had it and it's always been the same size on him, but got bigger as he's got bigger if that makes sense? haha so that's why i think it's part of his markings, but I've never seen it on another wildtype!

Thank you! the wildtype in particular is a very happy friendly axy! Was strange, I didn't mean to use the flash on my camera, but the black one, I thought he was a melanoid, he's solid black pretty much when you look at him but the camera flash has brought out his spots which you can't see with the naked eye! haha

Thank you.

Is it raised? Does it look like it's part of the skin?

Nice melanoid. They're my fave!

Hi :) no it's not raised at all, it looks like it's part of the skin, i'll try get a better photo.

thanks for the quick replies

I have a wild type with a patch on his forehead. Has been there since it got its back legs. Grows as he grows. I would not worry, just looks like a patch of non pigmented cells. Unless it swells up or does something other than look like unpigmented skin enjoy your odd spotted critter.

Hey, yeah that sounds exactly the same as mine. I got a better photo anyway, thanks for the replies :)

You should name him Spot. "See Spot sit. See Spot yawn. See Spot sit some more." lol

Haha he's Enrique!! I'm sticking with the Mexican theme!

So do we think that's just a unpigmented section of skin?

Either naturally, or a scar from his younger, wilder days. It doesn't look like anything alarming to me.

Ah cool, thanks Kaysie and everyone who replied actually. much appreciated and I can stop worrying now!
