Stumpy, my Female Axie

Somehow I think this is the right forum to show her off in

This is Stumpy, my legless leucistic axolotol. I believe she's a female ... I think that she was born with no legs, and though I didn't notice it until after I bought her, it doesn't seem to hinder her in the least -- she manuevers her way around just as well, if not better, than her four-legged companion. I wonder if perhaps the legs of an axolotl are really hinderances to them... I do, however, appreciate the irony of owning one of the few vertebrates in the world that can regenerate its limbs, and mine happens to be legless :p

Come to think of it, are mutations such as this common in axolotls? I believe that her male companion is growing a foot out of his foot... Perhaps I was sold a defective pair? (That's OK, I love them anyway)

Awww. Stumpy is cute. But I do know where her name comes from, hih. How long have you had her?How old is she?
About your other axie growing a foot from his foot is nothing to worry about.Mine has 3 mini fingers growing from a stump of one big finger, heh. This sort of thing is quite common in axies

Sweet hey can i ask something in that pic her tail looks wavey is that good or is it a bit stressed mine have tails like that too ? How she lose them ?

Hi, thanks for the compliments -- I'm not sure how old she is exactly; she was about that size when I got her, which was almost a year ago.

Her tail is a bit ragged; I think it was that way when I got her as well. I know that having tails bent in a certain way can be a sign of stress, but I think it is more of a slight curvature -- I believe the raggedness is just because she was housed with a lot of other axies before I got her

She doesn't show any other signs of stress...

I don't believe that her legs were bitten off or taken off by any sort of trauma; I think she was born without them.

She is the cutest thing I have ever seen, and I am so glad that she gets around OK.

Your other one is growing an extra foot to give to her cause he feels bad. LOL... aww I love her.

I have read that algea growth on bare tank bottoms can cause foot rot,. maybe stumpy went through something like that before you bought her,. just a thought,.
