After a lot of criticism about putting amphibians in outdoor vivaria and assured it would lead to disaster I would just like to post a picture of my S.terrestris larvae in their outdoor enclosure. this pair over wintered outside and have breed this year.

Then I'll be the first to congratulate you. I've often contemplated outdoor enclosures if I were to ever live in the optimum climate. How long have they been in the enclosure?

Thank you Russ, they have been in the enclosure since last year.

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
