This morning I went to feed my axolotls and found one dead. Now I'm worried about my other 2. My axolotl looked healthy but a little less active and wasn't as excited to eat at feeding time, also at one point it looked like it was moving something around in its mouth and under its chin looked as if it budged out a bit but looking at its mouth through the glass it looked empty. I have no gravel or rocks in the tank just a filter. I normally changed the water 2x a week but since I was in a car accident it's mostly been once a week.
Any ideas of what could have possibly caused it's death? And in the future if I notice anything similar is there anything I can do?
Not sure if images of it now will help but here are 2
