Does anyone have experience doing sutures on an axolotl or similar caudate?
If so, please post your experience. The most important details are:
1) Were the sutures done out of water?
2) Was there ANY form of anaesthesia involved?
3) IF there was NO anaesthesia, how did you safely keep the animal still?
4) How long did you leave the sutures in?
One of my male axolotls has a small tear in his cloacal covering and his cloaca is partially exposed. He is eating and pooping fine, as are his tankmates. I don't want to risk a prolapse, so I'd like to tuck the cloaca in a bit and apply sutures to the torn area. Of course I am taking him to a vet, but I want to hear what others have to say because I will likely be assisting in the procedure ( I volunteer occasionally and help with all sorts of procedures and surgeries) and I like to have multiple opinions.
