Swollen Lips, Please Help

He wasn't bullied at all...he was the bigger one, no signs of an attack whatsoever.

My tank is pretty straightforward, sand, stones, plants, proper filtering, airstone, dimmed light...

my axie has what looks a bit like what your axie had but not as serious, just one little bit of the lip is slightly swollen and the reason for this was the the other axie bit his lip(it seems to be reducing and healing well now though). i think this might be what happened to your axie.

when you bought him from the pet store was he with anything other than another axie?. looking at the pic it looks alot like somethings bitten his lips.

He was with another axie that looked pretty bad, white spots all over, but he's been here for a couple of months, looked very healthy and acted happy. I don't know if they kept him with other animals, they sure as hell didn't know how to take proper care but he looked fine before he died, except the lips

did your other axie ever snap at him?.

never...never seen it anyway, plus, his gills looked perfect.

well from what I was reading it might be from the plant that you put in your tank, it was a plant from a pond , well it could have brought to the tank some kind of bacteria or parasite, I don´t know if you cleaned your plant before , and when I say clean it isn´t just under tap water, some people don´t know but plant even from pet shops can carry bad bacteria or parasites.

So...this is bad luck? ...the plant looked rather harmless, plus my pond is full of native triturus vulgaris...but they could be immune of course.

Too bad I still don't know what happened to him exactly. I guess there's a lack of known details

I've got a new one, exactly the same as the old one. This one has a slight swolling in the lower lip also, Should I give him a salt bath?
