Hey, here are the pics of CB juveniles of these two species in my newtroom. They aren't bred by myself, but i hope to breed them when they mature :)

Hypselotriton cyanurus:

Triturus carnifex (some of them got lighter because of the substrate):

Beautiful animals! I´m sure they´ll breed without problems when the time comes.
Good luck!

Great looking newts. What is the short plant with round leaves growing through the gravel? And what kind of shrimp are those? Frozen brine shrimp?

Hey Mark, the plant is Glossostigma elatinoides, not really in a good condition right now (one of the lighs gone down some time ago and i have no $ to change it). The food are frozen brine shrimps, in the cyanurus tank i have thriving colony of Neocaridina heteropoda "Red", too.

Rodrigo: Thanks!

Thanks, Janusz. It looks like a nice ground cover plant. I wish I had more time for planted tanks, one day perhaps. I've never tried my newts on frozen brine shrimp but the way your's are hungrily looking at them makes me think I'll pick up a pack next time I'm at the store :D

My newts accept them happily, and even though frozen, they seem to still work great a colouring food. My biggest carnifex larva was fed on frozen brine shrimp and live red cherries (from tweezers), morphed at 8,5 cm long, had almost red belly, but it died without a visible reason, which made me really, really sad.

Check out "Walstad Natural Planted tanks". I always use this method of maintenance and i tell you, they don't require any more time than regular "newt tanks" :)
