T. shanjing larvae pics

Thank you Dane.

They are pretty much out of the water now. Just a few hang out there in the day but the gills are almost gone.

Now that they are out of the water, will you be putting them in a new enclosure?

I have them on damp paper towels and the tubs are on an angle so that they have about half a square foot of land, with a shelter and plastic plants.
Over the next week I plan on setting up terrestrial tanks, but they are still quite small so may not move them yet. Also, they haven't started eating again yet so I like the more clinical setting for them as it gives me a chance to monitor them at this time.

I am wondering whether I could set up shallow water dishes in a terrestrial tank rather than building up a dry side.

Still not eating, I hope they start to eat soon. I see you don't think you can feed them worms cause you work at a zoo, but have you checked? I feed my small newt's small earthworms and they love them.

Congratulations Rachel, they look great!
When i have morphs like this i often set up a terrestrial tank with soil and cork hides, but on one side of the tank i put paper towels (sprayed every day or two) with hides on top of them...that way they can choose where they want to be

They would ave to be pretty thin earthworms as the morphs are still pretty tiny. I know for a fact that I couldn't feed them earthworms dug up from the ground, I could possibly breed them, however they love blackworms and so I don't see that food type being a problem, along with fruit flies and pinheads to at least getting them to start eating. The morphs seem very healthy and active. I am also going to start breeding waxworms so that I can offer them also.

Sorry, I have been meaning to let everyone know how they are doing.

Out of the 43 that I moved to a terrestrial environment I still have 41. One of the tiny one died about two months ago, and unfortunately I lost one last week due to it getting damaged (actually a squished middle) from a piece of wood (which has now been removed). Some are big fatties now, but some are still quite small although these ones have plenty of energy if I disturb them...

I will try to get measurements and pics soon.

Thanks for the interest...

Wow you've been doing great. That is a very good survival rate. Waiting for the photos!
