Hi all,
been new to this hobby I wish someone can guide me along.

Oke, here the story goes:

Came back home around 5pm n saw 3 of my T.verrucosus behaving weird. Seems like mating to me. Two of them tail flagging one T.verrucosus. The two flagging guys have open cloaca n the other one has some white fluffy stuff sticking in its cloaca. Saw some white stuffs floating around the bottom of the tank too. Later on I saw the smaller guy piggy back the one with the sticking white stuff T.verrucosus(didn't manage to photo that scene). Pls see attach photos.

Questions:
1) R they mating??
2) The one with the open cloaca is it male??
3) The other one with the white stuff is it female??
4) All the 10 T.verrucosus r in a bare tank. Should I put in some water plants now??
5) Can I still feed them like before??
6) Is there anything else I should prepare for them??

Thanks

Open cloaca. Male??

1 yes they are mating.
2 male.
3 pockets of sperm.
4 lots of plants.
5 how do you feed them.
6 if you want to hatch the eggs get a small tank ready for them.

Thanks for your help.

Will get lots of plants for them tomorrow. Will also standby small tanks.

Feeding wise I put in a small dish with tubifex worms for them (In the water).

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
