Just because the acid, bacteria and fungus will have problems to grow

I thought the consensus was that bacterial growth tend to decline in acidic conditions while fungal growth tend to increase in this ph range.

Sphagnum moss isn't bad at all. Just because the acid, bacteria and fungus will have problems to grow.
My terrestrial Tylo's all live in a setup with peat, with sphagnum (and other) mosses.

Not to disagree with you but I have read numerous times on this forum of people stating it is not suitable for salamanders. I have posted a link that is directly related to a discussion on this topic:

Just to clarify, "this ph range"= 6.5 to 4.5, below 4.5 I would tentatively agree that most microbial growth rates are declining. That is, fungal growth rates will be most likely be increased in ph 6.5 to 4.5(compared to neutral ph}.

I know several experienced keepers that have used sphagnum moss as substrate successfully, I believe their setups have had ok ph most likely due to rinsing the sphagnum in water, possibly buffered water (most hard waters can buffer some acid} or other substrates(soil, gravel etc} have been alkaline or buffered at around neutral ph. If unsure just check ph or avoid sphagnum.

sad times the the female is now dead and the other two that are in a terrestrial setup are now both bleeding at the mouth heavily i'm now severley disgusted with the person in question i bought them from as i now believe they were probably WC ,I was sold them under the impression of them being CB .I won't be doing business with this reputable business again ,a shocking way to do business .I'm now out of pocket and worse out of Taliang Knobby newts.I've read in old posts of similar experience with this dealer

Mouth sores are not uncommen with WC Tylototritons. I know that my animals got them to, when they were still with the previous owner. He treated the sores with antibiotics. Not all animals survived though.

Try to go to a specialized vet. Mouth sores form a serious problem and you won't get rid of them using only a salt bath. Good luck with your animals!

Sorry to hear the animals are faring so badly... please write a testimonial about the dealer in the testimonial section so other people don't end up in the situation, although I have an idea who you are talking about.
