Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am looking to get axolotls in the future but want to make sure I have a good understanding of them to start with.
I currently have a 36 gallon bowfront tank with African Cichlids. The cichlids are going to be moved to a larger tank and I'm wondering what exactly I should do to prepare for the axolotl. I've seen info about cycling tanks but not about tanks that are already cycled. I plan to buy API test kits to ensure the other parameters are met as well as ensuring the temperature is correct, my Cichlids have not been picky and spawned without any attention to their water parameters, but what beyond removing gravel and cleaning fixtures in the tank should be done? I'm a little confused on if I should do a big water change in preparation or if that's just for tanks that need to be cycled.
