Hi guys I have 2 juvenile axies in a 4ft tank. I need a divider of some sort as my wild type keeps nipping at my golden and took a chuck out of its tail today :( any ideas what to use?

If they are juveniles and nipping each other you might not be feeding them enough. I have had 9 in a temporary 20g since late december/january from when they were 2" and have never had any issues with biting. I keep them very well fed and they got into a good routine of knowing that I bring all the food.

I agree
I have 3 Juveniles that are housed together
the larger of the 2 was more nippy and I kept them separated from the other 2 with a divider
The 2 of the same size did not nip each other unless they were hungry
I would feed them once daily with as much earthworm as they would eat and it stopped the nipping
All 3 live together in the same tank and all 3 are currently different sizes as well, theyre about 6 months old now

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
