I have two oxies what kind of filter should i use? I heard having too much current puts stress on them, im thinking in buying a canister filter any tips on how to reduce the current? and how much current is ideal? Thank You

I have a Fluval 2plus filter. You can tun the flow down . You can put in a spray bar. As little flow is best. How big is your tank. Do have sand or gravel.

Hi Cortes,

In my opnion, i think external canister filters are the best. Some filters allow you to adjust the setting to low, so adjust accordingly.

You can use a spray bar as suggested by others or try diffuse the currents by running the outflow down the glass walls, against a pile of rocks or ornaments etc.

With a big tank like yours you can even specially place a divider around the outflow area so that the currents are buffered.

Cheers.
