Hello Everyone,
I have my two adult axolotls in a 20 gallon long tank. I was considering getting a larger, longer tank but worry about cooling it as the current tank is the perfect water and light conditions where I have it in my house. I have read not to go upwards, in terms of tall tanks for gallons. I hate to change if need be....any ideas? Thank you :)

I would absolutely go for a larger tank if you can. :) Larger bodies of water take longer to heat up, so it can actually be easier to keep a bigger tank cooler. Also easier to keep the water parameters in check as there is more water (transfer your old filter to the new tank, and voilá - instantly cycled tank). If you need to switch to a bigger filter, just run the old and new one in parallel for ~2 weeks.

Like you said, it's a matter of floor space and not gallons per se. Long & wide is what they want!
