Tank too hot?

To be honest I'm kind of nervous about the whole temperature thing. I have no idea how much the heater will help or hinder, and I was really hoping for some opinions on it. Maybe I should start my own thread? I dunno, I was just at a loss of how to approach it, other than getting a tiny heater.

Like Embry said heaters are only necessary if there is a risk your tank is going to freeze over or you notice your axolotls are not behaving normally. If I ever put a heater in my tank I would buy a sensor/controller that can shut off the power directly to the heater. I had a heater malfunction in my feeder fish tank that heated the water to the point they all died and smelled awful. Better safe than sorry

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
