My pretty black Axolotl has had a stroke of bad luck. He/she was attacked pretty viciously by a tankmate, and sustained damage to all four legs, and the back of the tail. I separated them in the morning, and put him/her in the frige, and now I am doing salt baths, as it looks as though a fungus has started. I'm not sure what to do since it doesn't seem to be helping. Should I amputate the worst damage so as to remove the necrotizing flesh? I trained as a nurse so I do know how to do this, to an extent, I am fairly confident that I could do it only removing what is already dead. Here are some pictures. Advice would be much appreciated as I have never had this happen. Perhaps I had two males together and they got aggressive? I'm not quite sure what happened. I really don't wanna lose any of my axies though :-( I have a 10 gallon tank that is already cycled I can put him/her in when the wounds or fungus is gone, whatever is best.
