ok.. so i posted a message last week regarding my sister's axie Salma and the heat conditions... we have now moved her (now we think she is a HE after looking at some pics..stupid pet shop) to my house with the air conditioner going all the time.. we have got the tank down to 20-21 degrees... she started to grow a fungus style thing on her ear thingys and feet, so i'm assuming it was something to do with the heat stress... we bathed her in a salt solution yesterday and a few of the white fluffy things fell off.. we are just about to give her another one so i hope the rest of the fungus will go... looks like its ready to fall off. we were hoping to put her in the fridge but we cant get the fridge to go above 5 degrees..i think the temp we have her at now is ok.. well better. She seems to be going back to her usual self.. swimming and gulping for air.. before we moved her she was really slow.. SO now the problem is trying to get her to eat.. we tried to find a pet store open today but alas all were shut.. i'm hoping to get some worms..i read that live creatures might get her excited to eat.. we are going to change her gravel to aquarium sand tomorrow when we get some, so hopefully if she has swollowed some stones she will get rid of them. we put her in a smaller tank and we are going to move her bigger tank over to my place tomorrow. we haven't got a dechlorinator.. so we are using tank water for the moment and getting rid of 30% of her old water and replacing it with the tank water every second day... IS THIS OK?? we are going to get a better testing kit.. one that tests ammonia, nitrites etc.. i hope we are doing the right thing. I really am thankful for people sharing their knowledge of axies, its been so helpful. She is soooooo damn cute we dont want her to die... thanks again. i'll try to get a photo of her/him teehee...

hi katie, welcome to the forum. she wont die, as long as you keep giving her salt baths untill the fungus has gone and keep her tank around 20degress. the reason for the fungus growth is because fungus thrives at temperatures around 25-30. lol and the ear thingys are called gills. mine had fungus on the gills, i think its most common on gills. cant wait to see a pic!
