Temperature Fluctuations

Good Evening,

I just acquired two baby axolotls. They are only about 21/2 inches long. My question is I am having trouble regulating my water temperature. I have a fan blowing but the temp fluctuates between 64 and 66 degrees. I am wondering if the fluctuations are troublesome for the babies and if I would be better off just getting a chiller.

how many gallons is your tank? a large body of water takes a good amount of time to cool down or warm up. ergo, more water = more gradual change.
imo, a two degree fluctuation isn't anything to worry about. keep the fans blowing, and keep an eye on the temperature.

I have them in a twenty gallon long at the moment but will be upsizing to at least a 40 in the next few months as they get a little bigger

then it should be fine. my mudkip is in a 20 gallon long and she doesn't mind temperature fluctuations between 60-65f. the lowest it gets (60) has been the result of a large water change that brought the temperature down from the usual 65. she was unphased. in my experience, it takes a long time to heat or cool a 20gal tank,so i wouldn't be too worried about it.
p.s. you'll probably notice a good amount of evaporation when you use your fan- this is normal, don't worry.
