Hello Everyone!

all of the care sheets i have been reading all say something different about the ideal temps for these guys, so i though it would be best to ask people who currently have them. i was planning on having them in the mid-upper 70's during the summer (no ac, but am working on devising a cooling system if those temps are going to be too high).

any input will be greatly appreciated. i am going to be getting my group on wednesday and want to have everything perfect for them.

Most of the year they should be in the mid 60s F and really should only be raised into the 70s for reproduction. At that time they should not get over 74-75 F. This temp increase should only be for at most two months.

would it hurt them much to be in the high 50's to low 60's? (shop temps) -or will i need to put a heater in the tank? (same with sirens and kwiechows btw...)

Hi Paris,
My recommendation was based on the results Detroit had and my experience at the Zoo in getting newly imported ones stable.
By the way why would you heat the siren tank since they can come from bodies of water that may freeze over in the winter??

I forgot to include that it may be possible to keep shanjing cooler but I have not done it.

Hi all
Larvaes spent their winters in water at 6°C already, my animals are kept at least at 5°C the nights in winter, the days, temperatures should be higher, round 10°C at least. In summer, don´t leave the 32°C border for longer times, especially when you don´t offer lower temps the nights. normally, round 18°C are an optimum.
Greets,
Philipp
