There seems to be a lot of what almost seems like superstitious belief surrounding " red genes" in the breeding of many species. We have it with copper/red elkhounds - no actual evidence they are more prone to genetic defects or weaknesses than the normal colour (almost without exception elkhounds are black/silver/grey combo) yet people still insist that red=bad
If you think about it we also extend that to humans - many believe that red = bad temperament.
